When custom is called for, the master tailor – like Ibo – brings together the man and his dream. A custom-made suit is stitched together from fabric, thread and a man’s deepest sartorial desires. “It is everything you want,” says Ibo Kesici, owner of Ibo’s Tailor Shop in downtown Norfolk. “Custom making suits is always psychology. People always dream about custom-made. ‘I’ve always wanted this color. I’ve always wanted a ticket pocket, or a particular inside pocket.’ ” The tailor’s mission, Ibo says, is to conjure those ideas into a jacket and pants.
The English refer to clothing created to a client’s specifications as “bespoke,” but Ibo (universally known by his first name, pronounced Ee-bo) doesn’t seem to use that term, perhaps because of his Turkish heritage. His apprenticeship came in his family’s tailoring shop in Istanbul, where he began sweeping at about age 11. That was in the early ’70s. He came to America in 1988 and worked in custom tailoring in shops in New York City for two years before finding his way to Norfolk, where he worked for Beecroft & Bull and, briefly, a department store before opening his immaculate Plume Street shop in 2003.
The process of making a custom garment consists of multiple, delicate details. Every stitch follows precise measurements and culminates in the creation of a suit that is distinctive, finely crafted and flattering. The style and elegance are the timeless trademark of an old world tradition of quality.
We are a close knit team of experts dedicated to making your garment perfect.

Choose a Material. We have hundreds of sample swatches for Suits, Trousers, Overcoats, Waistcoats, Tuxedo Suits, Blazers, Sports Jackets, Morning Jackets, the list goes on….
We will take all the measurements to make your suit fit like a glove. It's important to maintain open communication at all stages of your suit's fabrication. We have made thousands of suits and we know what we are doing; nevertheless, ask questions and we will provide answers. Tell us how you want your suit to fall on your shoulders, waist and shoes. That's the beauty of a custom suit: You won't need to have it altered several times before it fits perfectly. We all know how frustrating it is to have a piece of clothing that fits awkwardly, especially when it costs you an arm and a leg. Customization is especially attractive to those with distinctive body types.
Let's talk Styling. Two-button or three-button? Double-breasted or single? There are many details to discuss: the breadth of a lapel, the style of pockets and vents, the lining options, the number of buttons, and their placement. These decisions can be yours, or in collaboration with our Master Tailor.
Personalize your Suit. The beauty of a custom tailored suit is that you can add personal touches to make your suit look unique. Whether it's specific types of buttons or pockets, just ask and you shall receive. These touches will impress your peers and really make your suit stand out from the crowd.
Within 4-6 weeks you will be able to pick up your order. At this stage, you'll have to look over every detail, and if there is any adjustments required please do not hesitate to come and see us because you're paying for the suit, and you should make sure that everything fits to your liking.

Overcoats remain a very popular choice for a custom garment. You don’t have to hide your expertly tailored suits under an ill-fitting off-the-rack overcoat. Our custom outerwear is cut to fit comfortably over a suit while remaining slim enough to look stylish with just a shirt and trousers. Ideally, a gentleman’s wardrobe should have a minimum of three overcoats – one made from lightweight cloth, one made from medium weight cloth and one made from heavyweight cloth – so that he can dress appropriately for all weather conditions. If you are confining yourself to a single overcoat, the sensible course would be to have one made from a cloth of medium weight. We will advise you about the weights of the cloths we have available. Most topcoat cloth is woven from wool.
We are passionate and professional about our process and we always pay great attention to every detail.
Our coats are made to your measurements and according to your choices for customization. Each coat is unique and a perfect fit is guaranteed for any size.We offer different fabrics for your tailored coats; from 100% wool to 100% cashmere. Also, we strongly advise you not to trust websites that offer you a 100% cashmere coat for $300 because $300 is not even enough to buy real 100% cashmere fabric.
After the fabric, lining is a very important element for men's custom made coat. A good choice of lining can be an eye opener. A great thing about "custom-made" is that it allows you to choose your favorite lining, not as in ready-to-wear where linings are already sewn in.If you want to stay discreet, choose a matching tone lining. However, you can be imaginative and creative, the lining is seen much more than you think so do not hesitate to choose a contrasting or high visibility lining. Is a black coat forced to marry a black or dark gray lining? No, not necessarily, why not red or brown?
Each coat is custom made so theoretically you can choose any "fit" you want. It can be slim, standard or loose. However, regardless of your choice in this step ; there are two things which are always the same in our fabrication: The coat's measurements will always be slightly larger than those of your suit to allow you to wear the coat over your suit. When you fasten the coat's buttons there will not be too much unnecessary space even for a loose fit; in order to prevent drafts.
If you are looking for something classic, we advise you to take the option a traditional single-breasted style and the other is double-breasted. However, we do not recommend that you match a classic style with a black fabric because it looks a little too "old-fashioned". Stand-up collar coats give a more strict and serious impression. You can also create your own style but for that; please contact us first to see if it is possible to manufacture.

We are passionate and professional about our process and we always pay great attention to every detail.
You can find in this step, different fabrics in different colors and patterns: solid colors, striped, plaid, squared, red, blue, black, white, yellow, etc...All our fabrics are either 100% cottons or 100% linens. Cotton is the best material for a dress or formal shirt, whether in terms of comfort or appearance. The linen is more comfortable to wear in summer but it creases easily. Our shirts are tailor made to your measurements and according to your customization. Each shirt guarantees a perfect fit.
The choice of collar is important for mens' custom made shirts. The classic collar: a very formal style, this is the perfect collar for those who have a relatively short neck and it looks good both open and closed. The buttoned collar: comparered to classic collar, this style has longer points. This is a casual and sporting style. The collar with two buttons: Ideal for those who have a longer neck.
In this step we present the customer with many different styles of cuffs for custom tailored shirts. The french cuff is a very popular style , please peruse our large selection of cufflinks. These will contribute greatly to a sharper overall look. An adjustable cuff is a convertible style. This style can benefit those who wear watches on a regular basis.
In this step, a customer can choose from several styles of chest pockets suitable for a custom tailored shirt. If you prefer something classic, we recommend you take the rounded pocket. Other styles are more or less casual.Bellows pockets: this specialized kind allows for greater capacity.
One pleat (center pleat) is often considered a bit more casual, a crease in the back goes well with a button down shirt. For customers with larger shoulders, we recommend taking the "2 pleats" option for more comfort.Flat back (without pleat) is not recommended for bigger size shirts, this style is easier for ironing. The classic bottom (rounded sides) is a dress shirt fit and straight bottom is a casual style fit.
To customize your shirt, we present 3 different plackets.Stitched placket is a classic style for a shirt, while the "no placket" style is very common in recent years.Hidden placket is less used, but often seen present on dress shirts.

Besides the individualization of its styling, the advantages of the custom-made dress shirt over the ready-to-wear one can be found in its fit as well as the quality and feel of its fabric. Most visible component of the dress shirt is its collar, and the custom process allows for one that is designed to best present the wearer’s face. The fit of the dress shirt’s cuff to the wearer’s hand, its second most noticeable detail, is another area where the custom shirt is an amazing choice.
